Re: Howto Install 32 bit Firefox with Flash w/sound and Java for AMD64

    Ok in more detail:

    .wmv 8 :
it works on 70% of the video well, but simetimes go mad (see attachment, 1st: OK). It is the same in every video player: xine, totem, mediaplayer...

    .ram
I tried to listen to some online radio in my browser, but it does not work at all. It writes:
    Getting playlist...
Then: Playing http://123.45.67.89 (for 1/2 sec.)
    Then: Stopped.
No sound output. Just a grey screen with the mplayer logo.

    Quick Time 7:
1 file has freezed my Firefox, otherwise it seems like working with the movie trailers, except for 1 thing: It buffers only 99%, then i have to rightclick on Play 2-3 times to start.

I have no control buttons for the plugins. Should i have?

What i did was the following: i used your script, but forgot to enable universe and multiverse, then i installed mplayer due to your howto.

This is what i get if i type mplayer videoname.wmv:

    Code:
    krisz@notata:~$ mplayer Desktop/grosics.wmv

wmv is Windows Media Video it is a proprietary format from Microsoft. Its possible that these files will not play right as Microsoft wont give out all the details to make them all work on Linux. Some play fine, some dont.
Real media or .ram files have been iffy since firefox 1.5.0.5 was released. I put a note on the front page about that a long ago.
While we got the plugin to work, I recommend running the script again to make sure all files were installed now that you have the repositories turned on.

Re: 32 bit Firefox with Flash: Menu Mess!

Hi... Thank you for the good instructions on this topic. However, I
found that after the install was finished, all of the toolbar menus and
also the title bars of most GUI-based applications, e.g. synaptic and
gnome-commander, displayed nothing but empty boxes instead of letters! I
hunted around a bit and found a reference to using `update-pango-modules' and `update-pangox-aliases'.
Running these seems to have solved the problems, except for one: the File/Open File dialog box in Firefox itself.
This dialog is still completely unusable, and I really NEED to use it to get some time-sensitive work done.
I'm hoping someone can help me figure out what to do next...

    Thanks in advance...

Did you run the automated setup script, or did you follow the manual howto?
