Mounting my Windows7 partition and setting read-only permissions, 2 other qns

In the end, I opted for Lubuntu over Xubuntu.

    1) I'm going to mount my Windows7 partition and somewhat, figured/recalled how to do it: fstab, uuids and so on.

My question is: how do I set "read-only" permissions in fstab or some other file? I simply want to copy out certain files and so on.

    2) Also, how do I edit fstab straight from LXTerminal? There's a pause but nothing happens and it goes back to the usual prompt.

    Code:
    gksu gedit /etc/fstab
    3) I tried to launch ntfs-3g from "Run" but what happened to the GUI? It has a GUI, right?

Either install gedit or use leafpad, which I believe is the Lubuntu editor.

    Oh, so gedit wasn't installed.

    Thanks!
