Hp printer - no printer toolbox or ink levels

I'm using a HP Pavillion dv6-6b50sa laptop with Windows 7 and a HP Photosmart b109a printer.

I've installed the HP software for the printer from their website, the software installed successfully and I can print with it, but in the 'Hp Solution Center' the ink levels are 'not available' and when I click on 'printer toolbox' (as I want to align the printer) nothing happens.

How can I get the solution center to be fully operational?

hi,in any case that you have not figured this out yet.. i recently fixed mine.. I got up to read a lot about this and i just installed an updated http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/index.html everything is okay now..
