Burning The Ubuntu ISO Onto CD. Help!

    Hello!

First off, I'm completely new to Linux and can't wait to try it out!

After a few messed up attempts at getting a boot CD burned, I decided to consult the step-by-step guides on the Ubuntu download page to make sure I get everything right. Now I've hit a problem...

    At http://www.ubuntu.com/download/help/...-cd-on-windows
    it says:
"1) Download and install Infra Recorder, a free and open-source image-burning program."
So I head along to:And the big question is -
where's the download link for Infrarecorder please?
(I thought it would be big one at the top, but that is a misleading advertisement for another program).

Click on 'Downloads' on the menu on the right of the page.

    Brilliant! Thank you, Cheesemill.

Do I just need the one at the top? Is that the actual application download or just an installer?

    Thanks again for your help!

Just download the top 'Installer' version (or the 2nd if you are using 64-bit Windows).

So I've burned it. There is nothing on the disc. What's happening?

Now there is. Probably Windows being stupid again. The prime reason I'm trying Ubuntu.

Let us know how it works for you! As long as your CD was burned as an image (ISO) and not as a data disk, you should be able to boot from the CD and take Ubuntu for a fun test drive without making any changes to your computer. I think it's awesome! Be sure to tell us how it goes for you. We'll see you through all the way.

I would like to say take your time as you learn about Linux. It's not going to happen over night and its not easy for a ex-Windows use to pick up right away. So take your time and enjoy the new OS (Linux).

Would you please mark this thread solved? I thought I had finally found a question I could answer, but it was already done.

    Ahhh, well. Welcome to Ubuntu!!!
The main difference between Windows forums and the Ubuntu forums is that the Ubuntu forums has hundreds of questions and thousands of answers, but Windows forums just have hundreds of questions.
As for the OS X forums, I wouldn't know, I'm too poor.
