    Exclamation Appeal

    Hi CharlesA,

I would like to appeal this thread where it is talking about Kismet. Although this thread is not created by me, I would like to appeal for the original editor. You closed this thread as you think that it is a cracking tool. However, the official page of Kismet stated that it is also a tool of intrustion detection system.

I hereby quote the front page of Kismet :

    What is Kismet?

Kismet is an 802.11 layer2 wireless network detector, sniffer, and intrusion detection system. Kismet will work with any wireless card which supports raw monitoring (rfmon) mode, and (with appropriate hardware) can sniff 802.11b, 802.11a, 802.11g, and 802.11n traffic. Kismet also supports plugins which allow sniffing other media such as DECT.

Kismet identifies networks by passively collecting packets and detecting standard named networks, detecting (and given time, decloaking) hidden networks, and infering the presence of nonbeaconing networks via data traffic.

I see no reason to open the thread. The OP asked an overly broad question

"how can used kismet in ubuntu 12.04
    anyone please help me"

The user was referred to the documentation, so AFIK question asked and answered.

If you have a specific question, feel free to start a thread of your own.
