Unity vs GNOME 3 vs GNOME Classic vs Cinnamon

Which better? I means the lesser memory consumption.

    PS:
By the way, in my Ubuntu 12.04:

When I clicked Firefox (FF)'s Icon, Firefox's window will show-up.
    And if I download a file, a download's window will show-up.
But if I minimize the FF's window, I unable to maximize back again by clicking FF's Icon.

I'd tried to minimize the download's window in order for having my FF's window back. But it cannot. The window, which will be show up when I click the FF's Icon is download's window only.

So, I choose a file, which downloaded => right-click => go to Download page.
And the FF's window will show up again.

    Is this normal?
If not, how can it be fixed?

    ΜΑΤΕ ?

But do not try it with Ubuntu. Install Linux Mint 13(ubuntu-based) with mate. I think it integrated better.

If you don't care about the compiz "pretty staff" then login to ubuntu-2d. Its lighter and faster.

My vote will be as follows

    Gnome Classic and Cinnamon .

But if you want some else as a light weight i would prefer Lubuntu to you .
Dont miss anything even it is small. one small pin is enough to bring down a man.

I also prefer Metacity which is one of the reasons I made these notes:

I've personally found that to work quite well with as little as an 1100 MHz CPU and 1 GB of RAM.

My choice is GNOME Shell with a few tweaks and extensions.

Re: Unity vs GNOME 3 vs GNOME Classic vs Cinnamon

I use Unity with Compiz - much faster to use.
I've tested GNOME3 for the first time just yesterday, and it's not bad, but not perfect for me. All windows are not showing at the top bar, too bad. Otherwise, it look quite modern.

Excellent impression of Cinnamon. I've tested Mint 13, and that might be the other distribution I'll use if someday I quit Ubuntu, for some reason (Canonical changing too many things?).
Is there a way to use Compiz on others desktops? I tried compiz --replace, but it cause a crash.

Too bad it doesn't seem to work with others desktops.. Not only it's super cool, but is also excellent to manage all my windows, using CCSM. I can make a windows more transparent, only appear on a selected workspace, and many others tweaks, just with CCSM.
