    System and program menus overlaid

Just upgraded to 12.04. When I have Firefox open, its Maximize etc buttons and its menus appear in the same top bar as the system title, and jumble with it. One is over the other, making them illegible.

Is there any way to get applications to open in a subordinate space, as in 10.04?

Seems to be solved. I installed the Gnome Fallback, rebooted and chose the Gnome Classic. It appears that Unity was causing the problem.
