I'm planning to buy a System76 Kudu Professional anytime soon and will get a Bonobo Extreme when the time is right.
I'm planning to have a 480 GB mSATA SSD as my boot drive, and a 1 TB 5400 RPM SATA as my secondary storage device. After looking at the optical drive part, I'm having a hard time choosing between including an optical drive or replacing it with another 1TB hard drive in a caddy case. So which should I choose? Add another HDD or add an optical drive? If I add another HDD, what would I do with my extra HDD? The only use I know as of now is to add Steam games into it. I'm planning to place my "professional" apps in the SSD, media in my secondary storage, and backup files to a separate external HDD and the cloud (Dropbox and Ubuntu One). So, really, what should I do with my tertiary HDD aside from adding Steam games?
Thanks in advance for your opinions.
NOTE: I'll only install Ubuntu in the laptop and I'll just install Windows and Mac OS X inside a virtual machine. I'll use the laptop for programming Linux exclusive games and cross-platform applications; 3D modelling (for development of games and visual effects); 2D graphics and texture creation; office tasks using Microsoft Office 2010 and LibreOffice (well, mostly LibreOffice); visual diagramming; blogging; video editing; advocacy of open-source technologies and projects; and many other things a laptop may come in handy.
