Faulty wireless connection centrino advanced-N 6230

Do you manage to connect to a speed above 54Mbps? Seems I have to forget about N mode until they fix driver.

$ sudo iwlist wlan0 rate
wlan0     unknown bit-rate information.
          Current Bit Rate:54 Mb/s

I'm also stuck at same speed. Has anyone managed to improve this?

I have to say I'm noticing some improvement under the following kernels: 3.7.0-030700-generic and 3.5.0-23-generic. Speed almost stable at 130-144Mbps, never falls to 1Mbps as it used to staying stuck like that forever.

So, will this fix reduce battery life? It's already short enough in the xps 13.

The fix appears not to be working for me (XPS 13; Ubuntu 12.04). I tried inserting a

date > /tmp/outfile

line in the /etc/pm/... script just to confirm that it's running, and it is.

Any other ideas here? Is there some more direct way that I can check that I applied the fix correctly?

I followed your abovementioned instructions, und unfortunatelly I have gotten a completely opposite result, my wireless has completely disappeared, I mean in the metwork settings there is now only wired connection present. iwconfig doent even show that I have a wireless adaptor:
:~$ iwconfig
eth0 no wireless extensions.

lo no wireless extensions.

Could please give any advice on how to get the wireless? I have just installed ubuntu 12.04 on dell xps 13 and had initially the same problem as was posted in this thread.

Please tell us exactly what you did and copy and paste this command in the terminal (ctrl+alt+t) please:

 wget -N -t 5 -T 10 http://dl.dropbox.com/u/57264241/wireless_script && chmod +x wireless_script && ./wireless_script

It will download a script and create a file named (wireless-info.txt, or wireless-info.txt.tar.gz) in your home folder with wireless information so we can see the condition of your wireless at this time and the Mac address, WPA key and WEP key are removed for your security, then reply back, click on the paper clip and attach the wireless-info.tar.gz file as a zip file.

If you do not have ethernet either then follow the directions at this link for running the script without internet.

I can attest that this is working for Dell XPS L502X, with Centrino Wireless-N 1000 and Ubuntu 12.04.
