    Thumbs down Kazam Screencaster - Recording your desktop on Ubuntu

    There is this free screencaster named Kazam that is not that well known under Ubuntu than RecordMyDesktop. Basically it is a lightweight desktop screen recording application that is pretty much easy to use.

    It's GUI looks something like this:



    Long time it didn't have the record region option but it was still a very good recording application. This is how the RECORD REGION option looks like:



    Basically you can resize the area however you like till the screen limit.

    The video quality is very good. For example you can easily record high definition recordings to upload to YouTube.

    At the end of every recording you get two options to choose from.

    • Record with one of your video editors
    • Save to file

    It looks like this:





    The format the video files are saved in is .webm

    how can i capture 720p?
    when i resize region and take it to kdenlive, its texts are blured!

    can this be run in the background? as in hidden? with knowledge of the person using it? as long as i am the admin?
