Help!! Suspend stopped working on T61 laptop

    Hi all,

I dont know where to start in terms of diagnosing/fixing this problem.

I close the lid, and system suspends OK. After opening the lid, the wake-up beep is heard, and the screen tries to illuminate, but nothing happens after this.

The cooling fan doesnt spin, and I can only reboot by powering off/on

I am running 12.04, dualcore CPU, with an ancient Nvidia Quadro graphics card.

This is probably an OS regression - Suspend also stopped working in 10.04.4.

Which log can I view to start troubleshooting?

    Thanks ahead of time.

Will it suspend properly and come back if you suspend it from the shutdown menu and then close the lid?

No, in fact I tried that exact method, and still no go.

It seems that everything except the actual powering on after the wake-up is working (the wake-up beep, the HD spinning, the screen trying to illuminate).

    Thanks for replying.
