Copying pjl file to printer/port

Hi,
I want to know how to copy a pjl file to a usb or parallel or network printer? The thing is that I want to change the serial number of the HP printer, is the only way.

I did the following without getting any error: sudo cp <filename> usb
But it didn't worked.

What I want to do is the following: C:\copy -b <filename> lpt1|usb|network (this is on Windows)
How can I accomplish this on Ubuntu 11.10?
