    Yup, I need mine for work too. My plan is to dual boot so I've first got to create some system restore disks and re-size the Windows 8 install before going any further. I'll not get round to doing for a day or so I think but will def update here with how I get on.

    Re: Asus Zenbook Prime UX21A issues

    Hi again,

    So after having disabled the Secure Boot I ran through the following;

    * created Win8 recovery disk
    * Re-partitioned Win8 to use one disk only
    * Installed Ubuntu
    * Ran boot repair

    I now have a nice Asus ux31a with Win8 and Ubuntu 12.10 dual boot working fine.

    I'll write up all the steps in detail and post a link.
    So far so good... thanks to all the posters and tut writers.

    Hey!

    I followed your steps and everything worked fine. Except fn+F4 and F5 (brightness controll) and the automatic brightness, everything seems to work out of the box (right klick, left klick, three and four fingers), special keys, camera, blutooth...

    in the end it only was the secure boot which caused all my problems!

    Thanks!

    Hey,

    does anyone else think that the font-size is super small? Everytime I go on a website, i use the zoom function in Firefox, otherwise I could not read the text since it's so small.

    I'm fine with that. Theres a tool called "Unsettings" (http://www.florian-diesch.de/software/unsettings/) to change severeal unity settings, thereby the default font sizes. I'm not sure if that affects firefox, but you can give it a try.

    I just noticed that my USB ports don't work until I go into and then back out of suspend. Anyone got a fix for that?

    I have the same problem. The origin of the problem seems to be an power consumption optimization. I used the tool "powertop". There you can turn on and off some preferences concerning the power consumption. And when I turn off one of 4 special preferences related to the USB-Ports, my USB flash drive which is already stuck in the port is recognized by the Zenbook.

    I`ve turned off USB 3.0 support in bios, 'cos I don`t have any usb 3.0 device, so it is not problem to me.Everythingjust works, except usb 3.0 devices and brightness keys ( i use cinnamon brightness applet)

    Hey all,

    As promised earlier, here's my write up of what I did to get the system into a working (though perhaps not optimal) state.

    Installing Ubuntu (12.10) alongside Win 8 on Asus ux31a

    I hope this is of help,
    Todd

    So aside from the brightness keys, your install is working pretty well?
