Yes, it happened to me too. Setting the "AccelMethod" to "uxa" in xorg.conf (as shown on the xorg-edgers PPA site) cured it for me.

Re: Asus Zenbook Prime UX21A issues

After 12.04 that had some problems with wifi, bluetooth, touchpad and battery life

I have installed ubunt 12.10. Seems that some problems have been solved like touchpad but ...

1-wifi need to be close to the access-point to work
    2-battery life still a problem
3-bluetooth does not recognize other devices
4-some function key like brightness that worked in 12.04 does not work anymore

    some ideas?

I've done a little search about GRUB. What version should I install? 1 or 2? And should I do it in Windows or it's better any other way?

Hmm, from what I read it's not even possible to run Intel card on anything other than UXA. I guess there was a glitch in one of their updates, as the latest batch I just installed today fixed my issues.

Thanks for setting me on the UXA track anyways!

    Cheers,

    Raz.

Re: Asus Zenbook Prime UX21A issues

It seems that as of the latest update to the 3.5.0-18(29) kernel, I have lost both my external USB ports. Anyone else experience this?

Thumbs down Backlight function keys Fn+F5 & Fn+F6 have been fixed

Backlight function keys Fn+F5 & Fn+F6 have been fixed in recend nightly mainline kernel "drm-intel-experimental":
    http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa...10-20-quantal/

    Changelog dump:
    [...]
    i915: initialize CADL in opregion
    [...]
Kernel works for me, seems very stable (Ubuntu 12.10).
If you use kernel parameter "acpi_backlight=vendor", remove it!

Are you using pm-runtime rules like mentioned in wiki? This enables runtime power management for Intel Corporation 7 Series/C210 Series Chipset Family USB xHCI Host Controller, which is broken since linux 3.5.0.
This has been fixed in linux 3.6.0
Device goes to D2-sleep-state, but doesn't support it either... In Linux 3.6 D3cold will be used instead, which should be supported by the xHCI-Host-Controller...
Since then you should disable automatic runtime pm for xHCI Host Controller only or delete the complete script.

    Sounds good

Is this fix also available in mainline kernel release (3.6.3)?
    http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa...3.6.3-quantal/

I'm not sure how to upgrade the kernel: should simply download and install (dpkg -i) all 3 .deb files, and update grub?

    Thanks for you help!

I was originally using it but I had deleted the script. Still no joy on the USB port.

I don't know... It should be in linux 3.7.0 rc1, but this kernel (and rc2) gives me a black screen after booting...
