HDMI issue in 12.04 LTS

Hi

I have a Dell Vostro 1450 since Jan-12 which came pre-installed with Ubuntu 11.04. I have an onboard intel graphic card (sandy-bridge).

Upgraded to 11.10 in March-12. Did a fresh install for 12.04 in May-12. have been using HDMI ever since.

However, since last 2 days I am facing problems with my HDMI usage. The TV (Sony) is detected by the system but there is no video or audio output to TV. On connecting a DVD player to TV via HDMI, all works fine. So i see no TV side or HDMI wire problems.

What do i do next? Can i roll back some updates i did recently (via update manager) if they have caused the glitch?
