    Re: HOWTO: Send and Receive Hotmail through Evolution

    This worked 99 % correctly for me.

    One flaw happend to me while applying original instructions from indras,,,,

    (Evolution was running on backround)

    I executed all as described, then activated evolution , but evolution has crashed.Did not accept any commands, had to kill it.
    -> then i tried to open it again, but nothing happened
    --> then i restarted ubuntu.
    ---> all worked !

    As you might see / feel, i am windows user restart makes magic.

    But, most importantly, this is the way to make instructions !

    BIG thx !!!

    Wow, I'm recieving email from my hotmail account in evolution for the first time ever. Sweet! But I sent myself 2 emails and haven't gotten either one yet. Hmmmm. Just checked it on the web browser, and they are there, probably just takes a bit to make it from there to here. Excellent! Thanks!

    I tried both setws of instructions, but when i type:

    sudo gedit /etc/init.d/xinetd

    I get a document, but there's nothing in it -- so I can't change it.

    sudo apt-get install inetutils-inetd

    Reading package lists... Done
    Building dependency tree... Done
    E: Couldn't find package inetutils-inetd

    Is this bad?

    Just tried setting up hotway+evolution for a friends account, and getting the same error. Hotmail account is 3 years old. Going to have him sign up for the Windows Live desktop beta, see if that helps.

    Thanks for the HowTo, just thought that I would let you know that I used this to setup Hotmail inside of Thunderbird and it works great, so once again, Thanks.

    Was able to get it "almost" running in Thunderbird. Pretty sure this is a cross platform then, but when I try to use it, it says I must pay for WebDAV Access...

    an update. Hotmail access via Thunderbird and the Webmail extension(s) works fine with the friends hotmail account in question.

    Next step is to try configuring Evolution+Hotway on another system to see if I can replicate the problem.
