Just got the junk mail sorted as sometimes important stuff gets missed and I've got the junk filters going in Evo.

    From here. https://windowslivehelp.com/community/t/5739.aspx
I'm sorry to inform you that there is no feature yet in Hotmail that'll allow you to turn off your Junk folder from receiving any messages, however, there's a work-around for this. I suggest that you set up a helpful custom filter by following these steps:

    1. Sign in to the Windows Live Hotmail website with your Windows Live ID.
    2. In the upper-right corner of the page, click Options, and then click More options.
    3. Under Customize your mail, click Automatically sort e-mail into folders.
    4. Click New filter.
    5. Under step 1, Select "From address" on the 1st drop-down, "contains" on the 2nd and then place "@" sign (without the "") on the blank field.
    6. Under Step 2, put a tick mark beside Inbox.
    7. Click on "Save.”

By having this custom filter, you'll receive all of your incoming messages in your Inbox due to the condition your custom filter applies, since all e-mail addresses have an "@" sign.

Re: HOWTO: Send and Receive Hotmail through Evolution

Hi! I used this to configure my hotmail account yesterday, and it worked great. But, for some reason, it does not work today. The problem is, that I can't press the send/recieve button! I have checked my hotmail account, and I've received several mails (there), and no one in Evolution. I have very little PC-knowledge, and I am new to both Ubuntu and Evolution, so I hope someone can help me.

Re: HOWTO: Send and Receive Hotmail through Evolution

So how do I make sure my junk folder in Hotmail transfers directly to my junk folder in Evolution? In other words, I want my inbox and junk folders on the Hotmail server and on my computer (via Evolution) to be identical.
    My PC (dubbed "73h-B3457"): Athlon 64 X2 4200+, 3 GB DDR400, X-Fi, GeForce 7900 GTX 512 MB, 2x7200 RPM 250 GB hard drives, MX1000 laser mouse, A-4 Tech slim keyboard, 8ms UXGA monitor, 64-bit Windows Vista Ultimate

Re: HOWTO: Send and Receive Hotmail through Evolution

    hi @ all

i tried to follow this tut and is written really good.
But i din't get the connection to 127.0.0.1

so i tested my own way:

    - download hotwayd-0.8.4.tar.gz from sourceforge
    - unpack and ./configure (at the end: hotwayd yes and hotsmtpd yes)
    - make and make install with root
    - hotsmtpd -> /usr/local/sbin/hotsmtpd
    - hotwayd -> /usr/local/sbin/hotwayd
    - then edit /etc/inetd.conf and add following lines:
    1100 stream tcp nowait nobody /usr/sbin/tcpd /usr/local/sbin/hotwayd
    2800 stream tcp nowait nobody /usr/sbin/tcpd /usr/local/sbin/hotsmtpd
    - after this i edit /etc/hosts.allow by adding this:
    hotsmtpd:127.0.0.1 2800
    hotwayd:127.0.0.1 1100
at least i restarted inetdutilities like in the first post, with the message [OK]

now the problem is. why does evolution-mail doesn't find the daemons?
    Error: connection refused.

what went wrong. please help me. i'm a noob and i want to delete windows on my Lifebook T1010.

additional info: i work with ubuntu 9.04

Anything different with these instructions in Evolution 2.28.1 that came with Karmic today?
If the only reason you think your software is better is because it's FOSS, you need to write better software

Unhappy Re: HOWTO: Send and Receive Hotmail through Evolution

    I'don't think so.

i had much problems setting up hotwayd and hotsmtpd. after hours oft testing an viewing logfiles i change the xinetd settings so that it work on 9.04. but recieving emails allsow doesn't work well. i don't know why.

the server returns allways -ERR send user first (or so ^^).

so i will say. this tut doesn't work for hotmail.de email. not with pop3.live.com and also not with hotwayd.

if their is some one how work with hotmail.de an hotwayd/pop3.live.com with ubuntu 9.04. plaese. say what should i do???

... when it doesn't work with 9.04 ... how should it work with 9.10?

    ok.

my problem was the password. using only the first codepoint of Unicode, or only ASCII works.
