I read in Google (http://javedmandary.blogspot.com/200...-directly.html) that http://www.izymail.com and http://www.pop3hot.com are the same service, the same company.

What we need is a free solution for Izymail.com

I've just registered with izymail (it says on their site that pop3hot is replaced by izymail)

There's some sort of limitation on the free registration after thirty mails, so I'll see what happens then.

If Izymail isn't a success for any reason I'd like to hack the dialogs so that they default to OK and go away after 10 seconds (I'm a professional mainframe developer), but I need someone to tell me where to look for the code to change.

It would be a good way for me to start to use non dinosaur languages

Thanks, Indras, for this excellent How-To!

Re: HOWTO: Send and Receive Hotmail through Evolution

    Hi,
Just wanted to say fantastic "how-to" - Really enjoying Ubuntu/Linux & working out all the little tips & tricks everybody takes for granted in Windose..

But after my searching - trial & error I am unbale to send an email through evoultion.. I can recieve all my emails, no problem but when I try to send I get an error about contacting 127.0.0.1

    I have tried the :-

    hotsmtpd: 127.0.0.1 2500
    &
    sudo /etc/init.d/inetutils-inetd restart
    sudo /etc/init.d/xinetd restart

When I type "sudo /etc/init.d/xinetd restart" I get an error about it not being found..

Can anybody point in the right direction..

    Thanks

Re: HOWTO: Send and Receive Hotmail through Evolution

    At above:
xinetd shouldn't be installed on your system unless you've used it for anything else, so the second command you have above is redundant, hence the "command not found" error. As for the sending error, your sending service is definately SMTP using the server 127.0.0.1:2500 (a colon not a space like you've written above), and your entry into inetd.conf (the line relevant to sending that is) definately starts with 2500?

On another note, has there been any resolution to the "inbox not found on server" issue? I believe that it may have something to do with the difference between hotmail, and windows live mail. If anyone has this working who uses live mail rather than old school hotmail then that would prove me wrong, but are the people getting this error using windows live mail? Hopefully they're still checking this thread...

Re: HOWTO: Send and Receive Hotmail through Evolution

The problem persisted after I switched back to hotmail, sadly.

    As promised;

after the 30 mails they only give text only mails, and they won't allow updating (deleting) of mails from your Email client.

might be OK for some users but not me.

What do you mean with "updating (deleting)"?
Thanks for the "review" about the service!

    Synchronization of the account.

When you've deleted mails from the client (evolution in my case), they should also be deleted from the server

Question Re: HOWTO: Send and Receive Hotmail through Evolution

why does nobody *ever* worry about privacy/security issues

(cf. pop3hot.com, izymail and other scammers)
