Unhappy ubuntu install is acting weird... i guess

im installing ubuntu from a flash drive on to an empty hard drive. it keeps on repeating the same lines of commands (ending with kernel_helper (or something like that) )and it shows some hexadecimals at the top. its been going on for a while (half hour). im kind of a n00b so thats why im asking this... whats going on?

Are you sure you burned the .iso image to the flash drive correctly ? No issues such as pulling out your flash drive before Windows wanted you to do so? etc?
