Hi all,
Well, I bought a neat external HDD dual-dock, got it home and realised I'd screwed up: it was the USB3 version, not the e-SATA/USB version I was after. So after a bit of peeking around I've seen some USB3 express cards which I'm thinking might work.
I am an express card virgin so have little idea. It is a powered dock but figuring USB3 port will need some power. How will this drain on the laptop power supply?
Bottom Line: If anyone has one of these devices working with Ubuntu (I'm using 10.04 LTS with a Toshiba Satellite Pro L510), please share your thoughts. Are these things viable? Do they actually work with a laptop? Can I achieve 5Gb?
Final Points: I have an eSATA/USB combo port on the laptop but from what I've read about this machine believe that to be USB2. The dock is made by Channel+. I would swap the dock but they only have the USB3 unit.
Tnx in advance ...![]()
