Should I buy a new laptop?

    Hello peeps,

I have been having an inner battle with myself. I currently have an Alienware m14x running Windows 7. While using wubi, I have installed bumblebee to use the optimus tech which made my laptop very quiet (vs windows 7). I was wondering if I made a partition, is it going to lower my laptop's life expectancy? How is the hard disk life is going to be affected?

Also, if I'm going to go with partitioning, my option is to buy an external hard disk to move stuff around easier and storage.

If it is most advisable to buy a new laptop, what company/laptop you advise me to buy?

    Thanks in advance.

I don't believe that I have ever heard of partitioning lowering the life of a drive. As a matter of fact, my computer came direct from the factory with 2 partitions, one for C and one for D. When I installed Ubuntu I blew away the D partition and installed on that portion.

I did that too - having first checked that the Restore discs worked!
    Had no problems since.
