    Woooooo!

I got psychonauts to work in WINE by doing the following:
    Code:
    winetricks dxdiagn

something went wrong with the installation of bastion here. Ubuntu 12.04.
It is probably no hardware performance problem.
I will try to reinstall it and see if the problem will persist.

So dumb. Saw there was an update available for Bastion in Update Manager, but it just sat there and wouldn't install. So I removed my existing installation (which was working, at least to the title screen) and tried to reinstall to pick up the latest build. No luck. With Ubuntu 11.10 I can't find the required libtxc-dxtn-s2tc0 package, so the install won't work and I have no game.

bastion: Depends: libc6 (>= 2.9) but 2.13-20ubuntu5.1 is to be installed
Depends: libgcc1 (>= 1:4.1.1) but 1:4.6.1-9ubuntu3 is to be installed
Depends: libstdc++6 (>= 4.1.1) but 4.6.1-9ubuntu3 is to be installed
Depends: libtxc-dxtn-s2tc0 but it is not going to be installed

Do I need to upgrade? Would really rather not if there is a good way around this. (Edit: My current plan is to just wait for a week and try again, hoping something changes with the installation. Not like it'll make anything worse.)

    Edit #2:

Waiting has changed things. Now the error looks like this:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:

bastion: Depends: libc6 (>= 2.9) but 2.13-20ubuntu5.1 is to be installed
Depends: libgcc1 (>= 1:4.1.1) but 1:4.6.1-9ubuntu3 is to be installed
Depends: libstdc++6 (>= 4.1.1) but 4.6.1-9ubuntu3 is to be installed
Depends: libsdl-mixer1.2 but it is not going to be installed
Depends: libsdl-ttf2.0-0 but it is not going to be installed
Depends: libsdl-net1.2 but it is not going to be installed
Depends: libsmpeg0 but it is not going to be installed
Depends: libsdl-gfx1.2-4 but it is not going to be installed
Depends: libtxc-dxtn-s2tc0 but it is not going to be installed

    Guess I'll wait some more.

11.10 (Oneiric). Not keen on upgrading for non-essential apps when everything else - including work requirements - is stable, but will have to make the push eventually.

Re: Humble Bundle V is now out

Anyone else having trouble getting Psychonauts to download from USC? I left the install running all night and when I checked it this morning, it hadn't progressed at all. I rebooted the machine and tried the install again, but I'm getting pitiful download speeds, around 1Mbps on a 16Mbps connection. That means at least another 7 hours on top of the 8 hours it was already running last night, just to download a little more than 4GB. On a normal day, that would take me about an hour. During the night it only managed to grab about 5% of the file, so it was actually running even slower than what I'm seeing right now. Other installs through USC are not showing this issue at all, nor are downloads through the browser, so I'm reasonably certain it is not a problem on my end.

I had a similar issue with Amnesia, so I just got the tarball from the bundle website.

As for Psychonauts, I would strongly suggest you get the Windows version instead and run it through WINE 1.4. It gets almost double the framerate and doesn't crash every 30 seconds.

I'm enjoying Bastion and Limbo on 64-bit ubuntu 12.04, they work great.

I had issues with the no sound on Superbrothers Sword & Sworcery EP, (installed through the Software Centre), but it works fine on my laptop.
