Ubuntu 12.04 ATI HD 4350 fan over normal speed

Hello everybody,

I have an HP G62 with ATI HD 4350 video card and I installed Ubuntu 12.04 but after a few minutes my computer fan starts to go over the normal speed and temperature goes over. And if I keep my computer turned on for a lot of time, when I try to turn it off, it doesn't halts but it gets blocked.

Fan speed goes over especially if I sign in with gnome-shell.

I even tried to disable from my BIOS the always-on CPU fan option.

Anyone has a solution?

I tried to install ATI catalyst but nothing changed.

Please help me!!

Are you using the open source or the proprietary ATI drivers? Power management in the open source drivers is considerably lacking behind. There are tweaks available for the open source drivers, see here
