As the title suggests am looking for a Yahoo Messenger client that is native to Linux (Not on wine). I have been looking at GYachI but it hasn't been updated in a while

You can take a look at pidgin ,it works for a wide range of protocols, including MSN Messenger, AIM, Yahoo Messenger, Jabber, IRC, IRQ and Gadu-Gadu.

you need to look at Gyache Imporved, which is a continuation of the gyache project

Do i need antivirus/firewall in linux?

I try to treat the cause, not the symptom. I avoid the terminal in instructions, unless it's easier or necessary. My instructions will work within the Ubuntu system, instead of breaking or subverting it. Those are the three guarantees to the helpee.
i want to do voice chat on yahoo messenger, but in pidgin there is no voice chat option....how can i do voice chat in yahoo messenger?
use gyache. pidgin, empathy and such can do the Yahoo IM chat, but not much else.
