eMachine eM350 problems been sorted with latest release?
I have been away from the forums and indeed Linux for 3 and a half years as am backpacking.
But I picked up an emachines eM350 in November 2010, and am getting sick of XP on it. The computer seems to be running slow and I need something lightweight.
Was gonna put Ubuntu on it when I bought it, but was put off by the issues detailed here: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1576260
Anyone know if these problems are now fixed with the new LTS release? I am thinking about installing Xubuntu via a USB stick.
EDIT: Found here: http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php...&postcount=192 that a user claims 10.04 worked well with the eM350... so not sure who to believe. If anyone has experience using this netbook with 12.04 would really appreciate hearing from them...

So... I decided to take the plunge with Lubuntu, and everything seems to work great. Microphone works fine in Skype, battery management etc etc is fine, quite happy!
I even came across Clementine! Yes I know it is a QT4 app but I had to install it - I used to LOVE amaroK 1.4.
Anyways, will add the details to the Hardware Compatibility list... happy!
