I'm fresh off the windows boat (yay for me!) and I was wondering how to find applications that have been downloaded from the Ubuntu Software Center after I unlock them from the launcher. They don't appear in my download folder.

If on Unity click on the launcher/dash/hud icon (I think its called that) - its the one with the Ubuntu logo - top left. Then you can search for the Application.
Hi linux12. Welcome to the forums!
You are actually installing the application from the Software Center, so you won't find a zip, rar, or exe in any place.
Instead, the application will be available for use immediately. Use the dashboard (tap the super key - or windows key) to search and launch it.
This is a youtube video (kind of old) but shows you the basics of the dashboard.
I hope that helps. Have fun and come here often!
Regards.
If you have Unity just press Super+A
