    Installing truecrypt in UBuntu 12.04?

    I have downloaded truecrypt x64 bit version and all i get is a 2.4mb text file? i'm new to ubuntu so any ideas?

    That's an installation script that you need to run from the terminal. I'd go through the steps here, but no sense reinventing the wheel:

    executing a script is kind of easy my friend .

    Code:
    chmod +x script_name
    ./script_name

    To be fair, it's not exactly obvious, even though it's easy. Anyways, I figured step-by-step instructions to install TrueCrypt, specifically, would be appropriate...

    right click and go to properties, tick the box that says executable under permissions

    then just double click it and run in terminal the installer should launch and install true crypt for you
