Question Missing icons in Unity, Cinnamon and Nautilus

I don't know what I did to cause this. I installed Ubuntu 12.04 x64 yesterday and then I installed Cinnamon. It worked for a while, but then suddenly most of the icons disappeared and reverted to some default/generic/placeholder icons. I think it happened the first time I tried to drag/edit the Firefox icon on the Cinnamon "start menu" (wanted to replace it with Chromium). I also played around with some themes to make Cinnamon look good with Ubuntu, but I'm not sure if that triggered it. Have a look at this screenshot; any help much appreciated:

for me installing gnome-icon-theme-full fixed this situation.
i guess it got lost in the aftermath of deinstalling gnome-shell.
