    Decentralized Sync

Currently, a lot of people use Ubuntu One to sync their documents, pictures, .etc .etc between computers

This is a highly inefficient way of syncing files across computers, as it follows the path

Computer 1 -> (uploads changed file to Ubuntu One) -> (Notices changes and downloads) -> Computer 2

Unnecessary space, bandwidth, and other resources on Ubuntu One are wasted, and the process is slow and inefficient.

Instead, we should have a method to allow direct computer-to-computer sync through something similar to a p2p network. Sort of like Windows Live Mesh.

Nah Landscape is just monitoring and remote access, not exactly syncing different machines/devices.

    +1 to the idea.

The client is Libre, and it suppose to be a client to client mesh-y thing,
    so we can do it.

    Re: Decentralized Sync

One benefit of the way Dropbox and U1 works currently is an off-line backup of files (which also makes access from a system not synced easy via the web).

But more choice is always welcome

Dropbox is limited to 2G + the number of invites you get.

    Re: Decentralized Sync

As already mentioned, Dropbox does as you suggest (and backs up to the cloud).

A Brainstorm has been raised to suggest doing the same thing with Ubuntu One.
Always make regular backups of your data (and test them).
