Wifi Direct and Ubuntu
So my cell phone (a galaxy nexus, running cyanogenmod 9) just got the ability to do wifi direct added to its functionality. I love the idea of a super-fast bluetooth equivalent. Is there any way to use this to connect my phone directly to my Ubuntu-running laptop?

Did you get to use this feature with your Ubuntu? I'm in the same position, wanting to get rid of all the cables

I wish! The closest I've gotten is running the phone as an FTP server using swiftp, which is clunky and old-fashioned. Still beats having to lug cables around though...
