Keypad and touchpad not detecting in Ubuntu 12.04

I have used a usb installer to install Ubuntu on my laptop. touchpad and keypad were working perfect when I used ubuntu from USB, However it was not able to detect keypad and touchpad when installed on the laptop. Keypad was detecting while loading grub. But when it comes to login screen mouse and keypad were not detected. When I connected usb mouse and usb keyboard, it was able to detect it.

How can an operating system which claims so many features cannot detect Keypad and Touchpad? How can such operating system can be useful without detecting a basic thing like keypad and touchpad?

I was thinking of moving to Ubuntu, but got stuck at this stage. Is there any way to make it detected?

I have a similar problem :

what happened before :
after a few unsuccessful suspends ( closed the laptop lid, and reopened, but w/o ability to resume the suspended activity )
I had to power off the box, in order to work again...

what is the phenomena now :
the touchpad is sensed during the grub start-up + login, than w/ the system in full operation, is not sensed any more.

what did I checked :
in system settings / mouse and touchpad- the touchpad IS ENABLED.

how did I tried to fix :
- during boot : I entered into recovery mode , than fsck, check for broken packages, repair brocken packages, clean, and resume
- during normal operation : checked and updated the system

what is the result :
NO IMPROVMENT

What to do next ??
I do not have a clue....

hy, i have the same problem...i have a miniHp 210..with ubuntu 12.04.
The right click it works..but the scroll not.
I settings , at the voice Mouse and TouchPad i don't have the touchPad!!

I have small computer but i always have to work with the mouse!!!

If somebody have any idea..please help!!

same problem i recently update to ubuntu 12.04 precise pangolin on my acer aspire one d250 and the touchpad does't work what can i do to make it work.is the 12.04 too strong too my aspire one? should i instal the older version
and you say that 12.04 is stable????????????
