Half-Life 3, Left 4 Dead 3, and more turn up in internal Valve documentation

    http://go.ign.com/1bWKY11

The sleuths at Valvetime have reportedly discovered that employees at Valve Software are, at the very least, internally discussing projects like Half-Life 3, Left 4 Dead 3, Source 2, Steam Box and more. IGN has not verified the validity of the leaked information.
Do you think Valve will continue Linux support?

Why would they not? There are no signs about them not continuing it. And that info is not to be taken as a 100% proof too. Employees sometimes just troll in JIRA too.

Gee, a game that got 49% on Metacritic, and was widely ridiculed as a piece of crap on Windows gaming sites.

Yep I think Valve will continue Linux support since they have not really spoken in favour of Windows recently.

For the sake of extracting money from my wallet, they better continue to support Linux.

They will probably continue Linux Support. It might be niche and small, but it has a dedicated and loyal community. Although, I imagine it's mostly a bi-product of their gaming console pursuits. They're learning to becoming experts in porting and optimizing games for Linux because they want to put their games, and help distribute third-party games, on their own hardware and platform. The fact that Linux is open-source and already has a ton of programming resources and community helps make it easier for developers to pursue it for consoles. But since they're trying to take lead in the emerging Linux Gaming sector, they will be the best equipped to help other developers to move their games to Linux. Not to mention, using Linux can help make development costs must cheaper.

P.S. The PS4's OS is based on FreeBSD, so why can't Valve make a console based on Linux.
P.P.S. Linux users are probably the cheapest form of software QA a company can get. Why pay a handful of college students to debug your software when you can just release a beta to Linux users and have them pick it apart for free. (Although, the question of quantity over quality comes into play a bit)

Except Metacritic isn't an accurate gauge of the quality of a game. Lolblivion has a 94 score even though it is easily the worst RPG ever, Skyrim also got a 94 even though it was only slightly better than lolblivion. Fallout 3 got a 91 while the vastly better game Fallout: New Vegas only got an 84.

Given that a significant number of "game journalists" have taken bribes from publishers, you can't accurately gauge the quality of a game based on a collection of game reviews from those same "journalists".

I dont see why they wouldnt continue support. Theyve dumped quite a lot of money into Linux development so it would be a waste if they discontinued it after only 6 months. If they want it to take off thought, they need to get more games for Linux. Almost all of the games currently available on Steam for Linux are Indie games which have been included in previous Humble Indie bundles and have been on the market for a couple years. Trying to sell games that everyone already purchased is not going to do much for your business.

There's no reason at the moment to think they won't.

In the long term though we all have to remember that they're a business, so they exist to make a profit - if we want the Linux part of their business to continue to exist it has to be profitable.
