12.04 no longer recognizes my camera (possibly mtp-probe problem)

I did a clean install of 12.04, but the system no longer recognize my camera (Nikon D5100 if that matters). There weren't any problems in 11.10.

    /var/log/syslog shows:

    May 8 14:09:59 hopecon kernel: [ 5068.412036] usb 1-3: new high-speed USB device number 2 using ehci_hcd
    May 8 14:09:59 hopecon mtp-probe: checking bus 1, device 2: "/sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1a.7/usb1/1-3"
May 8 14:09:59 hopecon mtp-probe: bus: 1, device: 2 was not an MTP device
Is there any other way to mount it? I would appreciate any help.
