libreoffice writer spell check languages not showing

SO am trying to set the spell check language in Libreoffice 3.5.3 writer and am having no luck. Just doesn't want to work.

I click on Tools > Language > For all text...

    And nothing happens....

I have also tried just going to Tools > Spelling & grammar

and I get this screen (attached) again not able to change anything, as when I click ok on the dialog it closes down.

    Any ideas

Have you tried inserting a deliberately misspelled word and seeing what happens?

I'm also wondering if there is any possibility that you might not have the correct dictionary installed.

If you need help with that, then please attach a screenshot of your Extensions. To access this, use Tools | Extension Manager, which will show a screen similar to the one that I am attaching.

Re: libreoffice writer spell check languages not showing

I got the same problem. Only my environmental spelling works, but none of other languages. Seems like Libre Office can't see any spelling engines on 11.04 except the main system language.

I tried to install all spelling engines (hunspell, myspell, aspell) etc. but this did not work.

    Then I went here:
    http://extensions.libreoffice.org/ex...ies=Dictionary

and downloaded spell checker as oxt and installed it from the Tools / Extensions manager menu.

And it works. This could be a solution for you.
