Re: 12.04 wireless issue - driver is active, but no networks

Hi, copy and paste this command in the terminal (ctrl+alt+t) please:
    Code:
    wget -N -t 5 -T 10 http://dl.dropbox.com/u/57264241/wireless_script && chmod +x wireless_script && ./wireless_script
It will download a script and create a text file in your home folder with wireless information so we can see the condition of your wireless at this time and the Mac address, WPA key and WEP key are removed for your security, then reply back, click on the paper clip and attach the netinfo.txt file.
    Thanks

Re: 12.04 wireless issue - driver is active, but no networks

I don't know if this pertains or not, but whenever I installed Ubuntu 10.04 on my laptop, I had to manually connect the wire to the network and download additional drivers (System Settings: Hardware: Additional Drivers)

Then, it would allow me to use the wireless.

Re: 12.04 wireless issue - driver is active, but no networks

Hi everyone, just want to share this in case it may help someone :

I have a laptop Dell Inspiron 1525 with bluetooth and Broadcom Corporation BCM4311 for Wi-Fi. This laptop features a switch on the side to activate/deactivate wireless.

After a complete format and installing Ubuntu 12.04 LTS, the bluetooth worked but no Wi-Fi at all, even the blue Wi-Fi light wouldn't light up (nor in BIOS).

I tested a lot and tried different solutions but the one that worked for me was the one posted here by Wild Man :

    # apt-get purge bcmwl-kernel-source broadcom-sta-common broadcom-sta-source
    # apt-get install b43-fwcutter firmware-b43-installer
watch for errors, then unplug your wired connection and reboot.

Thanks a lot Wild Man, you save me a lot of headaches and spared me from buying a usb wifi adapter

Like others I have the same problem... but with a twist! My wired LAN doesn't work either. That's never happened before. Anyway, here's the data.

It appears to be hung on the final instruction. Is this normal?

Re: 12.04 wireless issue - driver is active, but no networks

Hi, what makes you think it is hung? if all went well it should show no output and you just close the terminal and your wireless should be on and ready for you to enter your wireless password.

If it has errors please post them here.
    Thanks
