Installing Ubuntu on a Samsung Series 7 Chronos Laptop

    Hi

I'm following the installation instructions at:

    http://www.ubuntu.com/download/help/...u-with-windows

and trying to install Ubuntu 12.04LTS on a Samsung Series 7 Chronos Laptop that already has Win7 on it. I wanted to install Ubuntu alongside Win7.

The installer does not boot from the CD.
The boot screen indicates the keys F2 for setup and F4 for recovery, neither of which allow me into boot from the CD.

I know the CD installer is ok because I've used it on my other laptop.

Does anyone know the key to press at bootup to get the Boot Menu?

    Thanks

    Graham

    Graham,

I have found this link that might help. It is for getting a USB drive to boot so you will need to change the setting for CD/DVD as required.

Simple 12.10 guide for the 17" Series 7 notebook (NP700Z7C-S01UB - Best Buy model.
Gone through several clean installs troubleshooting the ACPI kernel issue (behind the power consumption). Got it to perfection. FYI the 17" model uses Nvidia instead of ATI. 12.10 works pretty much out of the box minus the annoying ACPI/kworker bug.
