My system says that the driver is installed, but it doesn't show up there.

After I installed Network Manager If I try to click on the icon that should be for my wireless connection it gives me the error message of "SIOCGIFFLAGS error: No such device".

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
The only thing I notice is that your /etc/network/interfaces should have every device commented out except the lo. It should look more like this:

    Code:
    auto lo
    iface lo inet loopback

    #auto eth0
    #iface eth0 inet dhcp

    #auto eth1
    #iface eth1 inet dhcp

    #auto eth2
    #iface eth2 inet dhcp

    #auto ath0
    #iface ath0 inet dhcp

    #auto wlan0
    #iface wlan0 inet dhcp
Edit that file as sudo, making the changes I suggested, restart and see what happens. I have not contacted Broadcom to complain... not sure about anyone else. The main tarball - bcm4318all.tar.gz - has both 32 and 64 bit drivers. I got it working with the 64 bit on my Turion 64 machine with a little work, and with the 32 bit on the same machine with *much* less work.

Re: HOWTO: Broadcom 4318 Wireless Cards

Nope, use the link that it says you should download, not anything in the attachment. It should be bcm4318.all.tar.gz, and should work on Dapper/Edgy 32/64. However, on Edgy 64 you may get a message telling you to visit a site to fix a problem, follow that link and do those steps.

edit: btw, what cards are you using? apparently the ubuntuguide website put this tutorial up there for ANY Broadcom card, not just the 4318s...

Re: HOWTO: Broadcom 4318 Wireless Cards

Ok, still having issues. I did a fresh install (6.10). Did automatic updates. Installed the 2.6.18.5 kernel from the link. Enabled universe and multiverse repositories. By the way, the light for my wireless is on all the time... with the livecd and even after the first boot and install. It is even on when its not showing up in System->Administration->Networking. Ran the script. (I was connected through my wired connection at the time... should I run it while not connected? Would that change anything). Running the script makes my wireless lan no longer show up in System->Administration->Networking . (I forgot to look at it under the fresh install, but when using the livecd my wireless lan is eth0, wired is eth1).

Here is the log file from the script:

So now I have no idea what to do. It seems like eth0 (my wireless card) isn't even listed under iwlist scan. My card is still not in system-> administration-> networking and I have no idea how to know if network manager is working or where it is.

    Any further help or ideas?

Is there any reason to think it might work better on 6.06?

You didn't have your Ubuntu CD in, did you?

If you did, install everything starting with ndiswrapper in Synaptic (System -> Administration -> Synaptic Package Manager) and then run the script again.

Yea i did it didnt show though so i pulled it out put it back in and redid it all over again.. Now i installed it and it went smoothly.. But i can not get the light to come on still.

I configured the network to what it said and still cant get the light on its active and nothing. I have followed these instructions and the long post by "raven" something and cant get the light to come on. This is getting rather frustrating.
