Hello, I'm a complete newbie to Linux. I'm having the same problems as others with the Broadcom chipset in my Dell 1370 wireless card. I've read a lot of threads on this subject and tried a lot of things, but to no avail. I would really appreciate some insight into the problem I could be facing. The wireless light does not come on, and attempting to turn it on manually using Fn+F2 keypress does not do anything (I get 'invalid keycode' messages when I try 'dmesg').
My computer is a Dell Inspiron 6000 with a 1.6GHz Pentium M type processor. I've installed Edgy Eft and everything is working perfectly except the wireless -- which is really important for me.
As per the instructions in the first post, I installed Ubuntu from the CD, and then proceeded directly to run the script. Here are the logs:
