Garbled screen after reboot after Windows

I have an Acer 5750Z with Windows 7 Home Premium and Xubuntu 12.04 (default).

When I boot into Xubuntu all is OK. When I reboot into Xubuntu after using Xubuntu all is OK

If I reboot into Xubuntu after using Windows I get a screenful of mouse pointers (which all move as I move the mouse). The only way I can use Xubuntu after Windows is to shutdown and restart. So this is not really a problem, just a nuisance.

It seems like there is some memory or setting this being left over from Windows and not being reset.

    Any suggestions.

    TIA

    Alan
