Angry gecko-mediaplayer doesn't stream mpeg, avi, quicktime, etc

Not sure if this is a bug for everyone but, for the last two version of lubuntu either they way i have my system setup or a bug but gecko-mediaplayer does not play most streaming mpegs, avis, quicktime etc etc.,,, i have the restricted extras installed along with restricted addons also medibuntu enabled and the w32 and w64 codecs installed (since i'm on a 64bit pc) but even regular 32 bit won't play these files,

flash is fine, html5 is fine, movies and formats play find if downloaded but. streaming with gecko-mediaplayer in the browser in one of those codecs rarely works...

    example

    this page

click any of those and it doesn't work
    http://www.fileformat.info/format/mpeg/sample/index.htm

you can find apple vids and the like still doesn't work

heck even the vids on lubuntu site displaying their webcast don't work

    please help

    thx

did not find the issue, thought i had but, no go, the only thing that works right now is either totem or vlc, gnome-mplayer works fine but the gecko-mediaplayer plugin is junk and has real issues streaming
