    Acer 6935 sound problem, pulsaudio/alsa?

    basically, plugging in headphones does not mute speakers. sound is duplicated, any ideas? 12.04, fully updated
    I've never had a problem with Windows I couldn't solve by installing Ubuntu.

    24 hour bump, still no fix?
    I've never had a problem with Windows I couldn't solve by installing Ubuntu.

    Try to manually modify the sound module parameter like described in this post:

    After giving up on the problem and coming back I rediscovered this thread, I have tried adding lines to the /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf file so many times now that i dont know what the original was like anymore.

    I also have no idea how to manually change that parameter...
    I've never had a problem with Windows I couldn't solve by installing Ubuntu.
