    Double jack - microphone not working

    Hello,

    I have a netbook with some kind of "double" jack - you can connect both audio output and input there. And while the audio output is working, I can't seem to configure the input after several attempts with ALSA.

    Testing with my headphones - if I connect them to my iPhone, they work as expected, so I guess the problem is in my ALSA configuration as it probably doesn't recognize the microphone correctly.

    I'm using Lubuntu Oneiric x86 on netbook: Asus Eee PC 1015BX-BLK165S.

    Code:
    $ aplay -l

    How am I supposed to configure ALSA correctly?

    Re: Double jack - microphone not working

    sudo apt-get install pavucontrol

    PulseAudio, previously known as Polypaudio, is a sound server for POSIX and WIN32 systems. It is a drop in replacement for the ESD sound server with much better latency, mixing/re-sampling quality and overall architecture.

    PulseAudio Volume Control (pavucontrol) is a simple GTK+ based volume control tool (mixer) for the PulseAudio sound server. In contrast to classic mixer tools this one allows you to control both the volume of hardware devices and of each playback stream separately. It also allows you to redirect a playback stream to another output device without interrupting playback.

    And what am I actually supposed to do, except installing the app?
