How to permanently display the global menu?

I like the global menu however, so I don't wanna do that either

I just want it to be shown 100% of the time for the window that is active.

Well, I am going to conclude that this is currently only possibly by installing a 3rd party PPA that completely overrides your Unity install, but short of doing that, no other options exist to change this functionality

No idea why the current behavior was chosen as the default, but I hope it had nothing to do with potential lawlsuits from Apple....
