Worker blows up if you try to use it with AVFS from the repo. The problem is with AVFS - it has a string operation that triggers Fortify... unfortunately, Foritify isn't very user friendly in that it deliberately crashes programs that trigger it. The idea is that the person runs the program in dbg which catches the crash deliberately caused by Fortify and then traces it back to the string operation that Fortify didn't like. But what it amounts to for the average user is programs which used to work now go BOOM for no apparent reason.
The workaround for this is to recompile avfs from source with Fortify turned off.
Grab the latest source for AVFS.
Code:
sudo apt-get install build-essential liblzma-dev libfuse-dev
./configure --enable-library
in its "Makefile" change:
Code:
CPPFLAGS = -D_FILE_OFFSET_BITS=64 -D_REENTRANT -D_POSIX_PTHREAD_SEMANTICS -D_GNU_SOURCE
to:
Code:
CPPFLAGS = -D_FILE_OFFSET_BITS=64 -D_REENTRANT -D_POSIX_PTHREAD_SEMANTICS -D_GNU_SOURCE -D_FORTIFY_SOURCE=0
then:
Code:
make
sudo make install
At that point, you can install Worker from the repo and it will work fine.
