Help: Try Live CD over windows

Hi...i used ubuntu many years ago and now want to try again. I've downloaded the 12.04 CD and am able to boot from it into my laptop. however, there is no longer an option for "Try Ubuntu wihtout making any changes to your computer"

can someone tell me if one can still run a live CD from the ram? if so, what option must i choose or steps must i take?

    thanks in advance

The option should be there if you downloaded the correct image file. You should have downloaded one of the following:
    ubuntu-12.04-desktop-amd64.iso or
    ubuntu-12.04-desktop-i386.iso

If you downloaded the Alternate CD instead then you don't get the option to try.
