Kernel source in Ubuntu world is linux headers, so please do:

sudo apt-get install linux-headers-generic

sudo modprobe wl

I have tried `sudo apt-get install -reinstall bcmwl-kernel-source` and purging and then installing. still the same output each times

Have also tried chilli555's solution of installing linux-headers-generic and then installing bcmwl-kernel-source. Still no luck

Please let me know if you want any other hardware information. Help appreciated.
