any way to get unity to auto hide?

seriouly im giving unity a go.. but it just takes up too much space on my small screen..
is there no way to get it to auto hide so my web browser and other apps can have 100% of the full screen.

    thanks for any help.

Go to System Settings, then Appearance, and there are some options for auto-hiding the bar.

    From the Dash:
    Type: System Settings
    Choose: Appearance
    Choose: Behaviour
    Select: Autohide "ON"

    Best of luck.

Additionally, while in there reduce the launcher icon size to 32 - this will reduce the width of the launcher and also allow you to fit more icons on there without having to resort to scrolling down the bar.

In case this is the source of you confusion, I believe that in 12.04 the bar will either always auto-hide, or never auto-hide (where as before it would auto-hide when ever a window was maximised). So if you are a looking for a setting as before, it may not exist, and if it does it is certainly not trivial to implement.

I now use the second download on this address. This makes my work easier when switching between spreadsheets, web sites, and calc.

But I did not know you could reduce the

    icons size, that is neat.
