Wireless on Wild Dog extremely slow

    Hi all --

I purchased a Wild Dog Performance Desktop (wilp8) w/ the wireless card option (Wireless PCI Express Xtreme 802.11 bgn) about a year ago. I tried out the wireless card for the first time yesterday, and it was extremely slow. I dual boot to windows 7, and it works fine on that (20x faster).

I installed 12.04, the system 76 drivers, and did a "restore system", but that didn't help.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks,
    Rob

What frequency is the router set up to use? We recommend 2.4 GHz, as it's a little bit more stable and can be a lot faster. Also, check that you aren't using a G-only or N-only network mode. We generally see better results from mixed modes.

Hmmm, yeah the router is set to mixed mode at 2.4 ghz already. Any other thoughts?

    Thanks!

Make sure that the antennae haven't come loose at all. Tighten them all (hand tight) to ensure a good connection.

No luck. They were already screwed in as tight as possible (by hand). I don't think its a physical thing, since everything works fine in Windows 7 (dual boot).

I had an extra wireless router around that I turned into a bridge to get around having to use the wireless card for now. It was completely unusable in its state. And I hate booting to windows

Let me know if you think of anything else to try...

    Thanks!

Try unplugging the router for a few minutes, then plugging them back in.

Re: Wireless on Wild Dog extremely slow

Well, I did a bunch of things over the course of setting up the wireless bridge through another wireless router, including shutting off the primary wireless router for a few minutes. Now, the wireless directly to that primary router seems to work fine, so I don't need to use the second one. I have no clue why (may have been shutting off the router for awhile, or something else I changed while configuring the more complicated setup).

    Anyhow, thanks for the help!
