I tried with the psmouse-3.2.0-30 but after giving this "sudo modprobe -r psmouse"
my touchpad don't work any more.

My laptop is Lenovo S400

Thank you the psmouse-3.2.0-30 worked like a charm on my HP DV6-3163!

One of my two major gripes are gone, thanks for that

...Now if only my Radeon HD 5xxx Series/Intel hybrid would work as well.. Some day maybe.

Does this prevent the cursor from moving if touching the 'button' areas of the click pad?

I'd like left/middle/right click to work in the designated bottom area of my clickpad, but I don't want cursor movement to work.

Normally, if I use AreaButtonEdge, it disables touch sensitivity altogether (good because they cursor won't move), but it also kills it's ability to detect 'where' my finger is, thereby killing the right-click area (as such, it registers as left click).

I think a small patch to modify 'AreaBottomEdge' so that it only applies to cursor movement would be the goal. Is that what this patch does?

Have not tried patch yet Sony Vaio Z1311 3.6.9 kernel.

Kind of, but no. Follow the steps in post #124 of this thread to test and remove if it doesn't work as you hoped.

That's fine. That command removes the old driver, so the touchpad will stop working. You need to finish all the steps to reload the new patched driver.

Worked on my HP DV7-T CTO-4000 with my 12.04 LTS 3.2.0-35-generic installation. Thanks a lot AnotherMuggle for the instructions for installation AND uninstallation.
