    HVR-2250 and 12.04, 0.25 and Blue Screen

Hello everyone, I've read through most of the post related to this card but I still can't make it work. I really need help.

I used to run Mythdora for years but the machine died so I built a new one.

    Here are the specs,

MSI 760GM-P23 (FX) AMD Series Motherboard
AMD ADX640WFK42GM Athlon II X4 640 Quad Core
    Corsair CMX4GX3M1A1333C9 XMS3 4GB DDR3 RAM
Hauppauge 1213 WinTV-HVR2250 PCIe Dual TV Tuner

I just ran the updates yesterday and I'm now at .25, I shouldn't have but I ran out of ideas.

I just need the two analog channels to work but I always get a blue screen on the second encoder.

I have the NXP7164-2010-03-10.1.fw copied in /lib/firmware and when I do

In many threads I read that some people use the IVTV Encoder but I don't have that choice, the only one that works for me is the MPG2 Encoder

dmesg | grep saa I get the following

    [ 9.025044] saa7164 driver loaded
    [ 9.027045] saa7164 0000:02:00.0: PCI INT A -> GSI 16 (level, low) -> IRQ 16

Notice that it's missing dva but I realise I don't really need it for analaog but the Unknown Hauppauge model #0 really bugs me.

    I also tried

    wget http://www.steventoth.net/linux/hvr2...010-03-10.1.fw
    sudo cp NXP7164-2010-03-10.1.fw /lib/firmware
    hg clone http://kernellabs.com/hg/~stoth/saa7164-v4l
    cd saa7164-v4l make CONFIG_DVB_FIREDTV:=n
    sudo make install
    sudo reboot

But the make CONFIG_DVB_FIREDTV:=n ends in error like many in other threads.

Can someone explain what this does? If I have the firmware and the drivers are supposedly included in .24 and .25 why do we need to do this?

Lastly, any hope of having the remote working on this card or do we forget about it?

looks to me like both encoders are working. did you associate a source with the second tuner in the input connections? I know for my PVR-500, /dev/video0 and /dev/video1 both had to be getting my analog lineup from schedulesdirect.
    Good luck

    Re: HVR-2250 and 12.04 and .25

Thanks for the reply, yes I did have an input source, the same, for both encoders but the point is moot now since I gave up and went with another solution. 4 days of this was too much for me, and the wife was starting to look at me funny.

Could you at least fill us in on what you did? Others may be curious what options they have for digital tv tuner cards.

    Re: HVR-2250 and 12.04 and .25

Yes, sorry, I dropped Mythtv and went on the dark side, Windows 7 Media Center. It installed in a snap, even the remote worked on the first try, didn't even need to configure anything and both channels are now working and it even includes a guide, so I don't need schedules direct anymore. I've added a plugin to skip commercials and another to access it through web.

There are a few things I miss though. I miss the window in mythtv to review the recorded shows, much more powerful than what Windows offers and I miss mythweb, which was better, I guess I'll get used to it.

    That's it.
    Good luck to all.

    Re: HVR-2250 and 12.04 and .25

I had the same problem as you. with it only registering 1 dvb. I found the solution for me to be the card number in my /etc/modprobe.d/ file. The suggestion was for my file to have in it:
    Code:
    options saa7164 card=8
but I really needed to have card 7:
    Code:
    options saa7164 card=7
    I got my clue from:
    http://linuxtv.org/hg/v4l-dvb/file/t...RDLIST.saa7164

I must have gotten an older card (even though I just bought it!)
